1973 Austin Other Tasman X6
Background check
Description
Rare piece of Australian/New Zealand motor history. According to carjam it is 1 of 4 with live plates. Built to compete with Ford Falcon, Holden Kingswood and Chrysler Valiant, BMC Australia decided to create a landcrab with a fwd transversely mounted 2227cc inline 6 paired to a 4 speed manual.
This car was likely assembled here in New Zealand by the NZMC and still has the stickers for the NZMC on the car. I had plans of getting her back to road legal as she only needed brakes, tyres and indicators. But as circumstances have changed and she has sat for a few months and no longer starts on first pop (suspected carb jets) I am sadly letting her go hopefully to a home who will get her back to her former glory.
Odometer is in Miles.
Comes with new sparkplugs. A 550cca battery and the front brakes and handbrake are all working and lock up as they should. Ownership manuals and workshop manuals both the original keys for doors, boot and ignition plus a freshly cut one for the ignition as well.
From what I can tell it will need new tyres, rear brakes bled and carb cleaned or a resto kit. Rust is mostly surface as I bought her from the Austin/Morris museum in fielding and has lived in the garage under my ownership.
