2000 BMW 528i E39 – NZ New – Factory Manual

Reluctantly for sale is my 528i E39. I purchased the car from Hinds Classics in Christchurch towards the end of 2022 and drove it back to Auckland. This was my first BMW and it quickly showed me why the E39 chassis is so highly regarded.

The car has completed a couple road trips and was also my daily commuter at a point. I would have no hesitation driving it anywhere.

Mileage (as advised at purchase):

Replacement engine (Same spec M52B28 engine) showing - 144,000km

Replacement motor installed by a BMW mechanic enthusiast.

Engine swap done properly, however no formal documentation to confirm engine mileage.

Mechanical Condition:

The car runs and drives well and has been well maintained during my ownership. No expense has been spared on maintenance, with work carried out by reputable BMW specialists including Apex Automotive, Highspek Automotive, and HellBM. Full paper trail available.

Full E39 M52TU Full Service + Inspection - Nov 2025

In my ownership, the car has had a full suspension refresh following BimmerSport recommendations.

Refresh includes Bilstein standard front and rear struts, BMW spring pads, Lemforder top mounts, Febi Bilstein/Meyle bump stops, and new front control arms, thrust arms, and sway bar links (all with correct bushings and ball joints), covering all common E39 wear items.

Also completed - Shifter rebuild kit (E60 short shifter, ZHP knob, all bushings).

Leather interior in good condition overall, with slight roof lining sag in places but tidy and well supported. The interior would benefit from a refresh but is in standard condition for its age.

Both passenger and driver sun visors broken.

I had planned a full interior swap but got busy.

Car fully detailed inside and out.
