1973 BMW Alpina ti ti
Background check
Description
My racing days are over so for sale is my 2002ti. Its not an Alpina but no relevant description available. This little beamer has had a recent top and bottom overhaul which included adding the larger M3 baffled oil sump. A hot race cam with 45 carbs and upgraded rockers and valve springs have it singing between 4000 and 7000 revs. Its stops on a sixpence with twin pot Wilwoods and vented rotors on the front while handling seems perfectly fine with the current set up it came to me as. The addition of a new peddle box and 5 speed gear box adds to the easy driving nature on the road or track. Near new race tyres and rep rims take care of traction and the car comes with its own electronic timing device. Aesthetic and performance improvements could be made by upgrading the diff to a matching lsd and repairing the bad rust spot on passengers side rail, pictured. The bonnet, though largely rust free and treated did not respond well to being prepped and repainted so is 5/10. Included in the sale could be a newish helmet and Hans device plus a rather portly 1.75m size double layer race suit and fire proof undergarments freshly laundered. In addition the trailer featured in the pics, with remote high powered winch is also available for $2000, powered by long life battery or hard wired to your tow vehicle, not included. I can deliver South Island wide FOC and to the North Island by arrangement. Live the dream of classic motor racing with this cool little BMW, a relative rarity on NZ circuits today. Rego is on hold should you wish to return it to the road. Call me if you need more info. Lloyd
Questions & Answers
Hi, does it have an open diff? Overdrive 5 speed or close ratio? What sort of suspension upgrades? Cheers vrgorac (170 • 6:17 pm, Tue, 6 Jan )Yes the diff is open and Im unsure of exactly what gearbox the 5 speed is but with the rev range now available doubt you would need 5th on most circuits. As said the handling seems fine and is how i purchased 15 years ago. Reasonably firm on the front and less so on the back, I have seen no reason to play with the existing suspension components. bettyblue1 (251 • Tuesday, 6 January 2026 )Do you have a dyno sheet andmac3 (1 • 7:57 pm, Tue, 6 Jan )No sorry never been dynoed, with the level of tune should be around 170/180 bettyblue1 (251 • Tuesday, 6 January 2026 )
