I'm the first New Zealand owner of this imported X1. It has the 2.0-litre petrol engine paired with an auto, and the xDrive AWD system provides good traction in various driving conditions. The X1 sits in that sweet spot between a hatchback and a proper SUV - elevated driving position without being too bulky for city driving.

The engine runs well and the AWD has proven dependable. It's practical for daily use and weekend trips alike, with a decent boot and rear seats that fold down when you need extra space.

Being a 2012 model, it shows some signs of use as you'd expect, but it's been looked after and continues to drive as it should. It's a solid choice if you're after a premium badge with AWD capability at a realistic price point.
