Description

UPDATE,NOW FULLY COMPLIED AND ROAD LEGAL. 1957 CHEV NOMAD The sale includes a WOF, a 12 month registration, and certification. 1 of 6103 Nomads built in 1957, estimate of surviving Nomads vary from 20 – 50% of original numbers so a very rare car. The ones for sale in USA at the moment range in prices but average US$80,000 which will be over NZ$160,000 landed + they would potentially need to have rust repairs, repair cert, certified and complied, which is why this Nomad was not put on the road by the original NZ owner I purchased this Nomad a few months ago (March 2025) to rebuild and sell, all work except for paint and upholstery have been done in my workshop, if you have a tri 5 Chevy that you want finished give me a call – Mike 0272778666. = Nomad’s are not cheap and are a appreciating asset, any brought in from USA will most likely need considerable work to get legal in NZ, the cheapest vehicle is always the legal one in NZ, I put $40k in parts and materials and over 600 hours into getting this Nomad legal to drive in NZ (compliance booked mid-December), I welcome trades – no finished vehicles (Tri 5 preferred and only vehicles that need work) PRICE = $189,500.00 Full build photos are available, no test drive unless proof of funds.

This vehicle has just had a complete rebuild and is in excellent condition = see comments for break down of rebuild - not enough space here

Questions & Answers

  • UNDER BODY = in the short time that I have owned the Nomad, I have rebuilt it from the floors up, this list of repairs includes replacing the complete floor, sills, rocker panels, lower rear quarters, bottoms of both fenders and then removing all other rust to repair cert level. The body was then fully under sealed, cavity waxed and dyno mat fitted to the floor pans front to back. New drive shaft with new universals. Seller comment Thursday, 20 November 2025
  • INTERIOR = as the Nomad was completely stripped, it was fully rewired front to back with a new painless wiring kit custom made for tri 5’s = not a cheap knockoff, installed a new custom auto sound stereo, new antenna and speakers, with the dash completely stripped I installed a new speedo, steering column, ignition switch, wiper switch and after market oil pressure and water temperature gauges, finally new carpet and hood lining was installed. Seller comment Thursday, 20 November 2025
  • The Nomad came with a relatively new interior kit fitted so I just cleaned and reassembled, all interior trim was removed and polished. Seller comment Thursday, 20 November 2025
  • SUSPENSION – FRONT = new CPP power disc brake conversion kit with 2-inch drop spindles, new top and bottom A-arms with added caster, ball joints, bushes, and tie rods etc SUSPENSION – REAR = diff stripped and checked, new longer wheel studs fitted, oil changed, painted, reinstalled with 2 inch lowering blocks Seller comment Thursday, 20 November 2025
  • EXTERIOR = full panel and paint, all trim removed, cleaned, and refitted with new clips. New taillight housing including lenses were also installed. Bumpers cleaned, polished, and refitted correctly, new headlights and a complete set of new tinted glass. All badges removed, replaced as required and then painted in our custom black pearl paint to contrast with the custom yellow pearl paint. Seller comment Thursday, 20 November 2025
  • Crager 17-inch street pro wheels with 235/45/17 rear tyres and 215/45/17 front tyres – set off the Nomad nicely for that classic Hot Rod look Seller comment Thursday, 20 November 2025
  • MOTOR = 1968 302 Chev, these motors were rated at 290HP from the factory and were developed for Z28 Camaro’s, not your ordinary small block chev – a very rare and desirable motor, the motor has had the sump and inlet manifold removed for visual inspection and to confirm it is a 302, motor looks good and has a 40PSI cold oil pressure and 20PSI hot Seller comment Thursday, 20 November 2025
  • a brand new Holley 600CFM carb has been installed complete with new alloy air filter, alternator, power steering pump, water pump and frost plugs, full engine flush and oil filter TRANS = turbo 350, shifts well, new filter and fluids Seller comment Thursday, 20 November 2025
