1965 Hillman Super Minx - a NZ new sedan that's ready for someone who wants to complete a "Restomod" project - a classic vehicle with modern running gear .
If you're into classic cars, this could be a worthwhile project for you . It's got the bones of a good car, it just needs someone with the time and skills to get it sorted. This car needs work - it's not a car you can jump in and drive daily without putting in some effort first; once the car is finished it will need to be "certified" to get it back on the road . However, that's part of the appeal if you're after a classic British sedan from the mid-60s. The Hillman Super Minx has a bit of a following among enthusiasts, and finding a solid example like this car is becoming increasingly rare.
Some details : Registration currently on hold until December 2026.
The original engine and gearbox have been removed and sold .The replacement engine is a Toyota 1.8 ltr ,4 cylinder DOHC 16V VVT-I (1ZZ-FE) - new parts have been purchased for the engine and it needs reassembly. The replacement gearbox is a Toyota Altezza 6 speed manual and comes with an adapter kit to match with the engine ;engine bay has been modified to accept new drive train .
Extensive body work has been done to repair and replace rusted panels and the body is now almost ready for painting .The bonnet and boot lid have been recreated in carbon fibre .
Comes with brand new set of four 15" 8 spoke Alloys (Revolution) and new tyres (Falken) ready to go on . Plus set of four old 13" alloys kept on the car during the restoration .
Most of the orginal parts are still with the car (except motor and gearbox) and there are a host of new/replacement parts too numerous to mention . Majority of receipts/invoices for parts and outside panel work are available plus a photo history of the restoration to date
