1994 Citroen ZX GTi GTi
Description
Great car owned personally since 1996. Reliable performer, garaged these past 16 years.
Vehicle is deregistered and has no WOF. At last check a steering tie-rod failed, and the headlight alignment needed adjusting.
Complete top-bottom overhaul performed by Citroen mechanic at 245,000km.
Some minor clear-coat finish deterioration at top RH bonnet edge and part of front bumper, and a small dent in LH Passenger door.
As is usual with this era Citroen and Peugeot cars the rear self-steering axle will need attention in time. While this can be done locally I have located a European factory rebuild supplier: https://www.antalex.pl/en/product/citroen-zx-1991-1998-hatchback-discs-3xba2/ Quoted cost is Euro$270 plus shipping.
Sale driven by failing health.
This car has the potential to become an exemplary classic Citroen GTi.
Questions & Answers
So is the rego on hold or dead? As in will need a Re-vin? eaglenuts (198 • 12:30 pm, Sun, 10 May )Rego is dead. Rekinspection needed. sharyandwary (395 • Sunday, 10 May 2026 )It’s going to be a struggle getting your asking price with the car needing to be re-vinned. That’s a lot of work, both in time and money. Best of luck though, they’re a great car. If it was white with the red/black trim, would be all over it. eaglenuts (198 • 4:47 pm, Mon, 11 May )It’s a great resto prospect, and comes with a ‘make an offer’ option. sharyandwary (395 • Monday, 11 May 2026 )Hi, being a dumb fella, what is the 'rear self steering axle'? I have a good condition ZX TDI diesel sw that has reg on hold that I'm tossing up whether to do up (relatively minor stuff) but now am think about how the two would overlap in regard to door handles, lights & that sort of stuff as mine could be a good donor to yours other than the motor & running gear. The re-vinning could be a spendy as I hear they are tightening up on older cars (govt wants them off the road) gojack5 (361 • 12:39 pm, Tue, 12 May )Health issues prevent completion of work on my GTi. Converting to diesel would be a non-starter. Thanks for getting in touch. sharyandwary (395 • Tuesday, 12 May 2026 )It’s not the 16V variant is it? Can you check and confirm what engine code this model has? squashie21 (66 • 7:19 pm, Mon, 18 May )It’s an 8 valve engine. sharyandwary (395 • Monday, 18 May 2026 )Why wasn't the car registration put on hold? It costs virtually nothing as opposed to a barrel load of money to be re-vinned. Its price should reflect that given its condition and kms. Also, work on the rear self steering axle is costly somewhere in the vicinity of $2500 to replace even if you get the parts. Such a car, no matter the rarity, should be around $1500 max. geewee61 (12 • 6:38 am, Thu, 28 May )With all due respect and even in questioning your projections please note this is why I invited offers on my project gti. Many thanks. sharyandwary (395 • Thursday, 28 May 2026 )
