1954 Daimler Other Conquest convertible coupe
Background check
Description
This is a very rare but very practical classic car. I believe only 269 Daimler Conquest coupes were made and I believe that this is the only one to exist in nz.
The car shares many of its parts with the much more common four door saloon version, making sourcing of most parts a breeze. The body appears to be in excellent condition with no apparent evidence of any accident damage that I can see. The paint is faded but will may come up very well with a cut and polish.
It has new leather upholstery on both its front and rear seats.
The car has a 2.5 litre six cylinder engine and a four speed Wilson pre select gearbox.
I inherited the car from my father. He had disassembled its brakes as wheel cylinders were likely leaking. He also let the registration lapse so the car will have to be revinned. However having already been registered on nz roads, I believe the process would be easier than it would have been if it was a fresh import to NZ.
The car turns over but is not going and is sold on an as is where is basis and without a registration. No warranties either express or implied are undertaken.
I’m sure it will be a great project for somebody.
Although the model of the car was given the Conquest Drophead Coupe designation, these cars had the more powerful Century engine which produced 100bhp a significant improvement on a Conquest engines 75hp output. This was achieved by fitting an aluminium head and twin Su carburettors rather than the cast iron head and single Solex carburettors normally found on Conquest cars.
