Description
Daimler Vanden Plas. In good condition overall, paint is believed to be the original so shows a few marks etc. Rego on hold. Re powered with a Chev 350 engine in 1992. The motor sounds good and quiet. Whilst not original, this engine swap is very practical. Way cheaper to maintain than the Daimler engine! The only documentation for the swap, is shown in the pics. At a $1 reserve someone might get a bargain. The car will want recommissioning before use on the road. It was last used some 25 years ago. Viewing can only be from the 14th to the 18th.
Questions & Answers
Swap for hr holden project, supak (117 • 2:56 pm, Tue, 6 Jan )No thanks. dhtm (30 • Tuesday, 6 January 2026 )Do you have reg plates? What number? tony2657 (120 • 3:06 pm, Tue, 6 Jan )Good question! They must be somewhere.... Rego number is IF5432 dhtm (30 • Tuesday, 6 January 2026 )I forgot to mention it has an LPG kit fitted, although it's currently running on petrol. Seller comment Tuesday, 6 January 2026 Unless the "Documentation Shown in the Pictures" states the car is Certified with the V8 Engine installed, the car will need to be certified to be legal, which, depending on what is on the paperwork shown, could be a Major Problem? I am confused that your Add says the car is Rego'd thru September, which means it's recently had a WOF? rodney19581 (0 • 12:20 pm, Wed, 7 Jan )Yes, the car will need to be certified. All that documentation shows is the paper trail that was required at the time. It's not me that has said the rego is valid through to September, that information is gleaned from the NZTA by Trademe. As I understand it, it actually means the rego is on hold until September. dhtm (30 • Wednesday, 7 January 2026 )What auto box? ascarlyle (6 • 1:38 pm, Wed, 7 Jan )I'll have to check but probably the matching Chev one. dhtm (30 • Wednesday, 7 January 2026 )Have you found the plates? jagboy (1354 • 10:39 pm, Wed, 7 Jan )Not yet, first chance is next week. dhtm (30 • Wednesday, 7 January 2026 )If reg is on hold, and it has declaration papers, shouldn’t need to be certified-when low volume certs were introduced “existing” modified cars were able to be exempt as long as the mods were inspected and declared-so you could avoid having to get 10 drive shaft hoops etc heckflosse (2 • 7:10 am, Fri, 9 Jan )Thank you for that information. dhtm (30 • Friday, 9 January 2026 )
