1982 Daimler Sovereign Xj6
Background check
Description
1982 Daimler (Jaguar) Sovereign XJ6
4.2 straight six
Rego on hold
Time to move on my Series 3 Daimler Sovereign XJ6. Beautiful old-school British luxury with all the charm, woodgrain and presence these cars are known for. If you know these cars, you know how special they are to drive and how much attention they get.
This one has been sitting in the garage for the last couple of years collecting dust and deserves to go to someone who will either recommission it properly or add it to a collection.
Body is tidy for its age and importantly the usual rust areas like the sills are solid. Interior is also in pretty decent shape with good leather and presents nicely overall. Still has that unmistakable old Jaguar/Daimler atmosphere when you sit in it.
Currently appears to have a vacuum leak causing rough idle and poor brake assist. From what I understand, likely something relatively straightforward for someone familiar with these cars, but it’s beyond my skillset and I simply don’t have the time.
Gear shifter could also do with a minor adjustment but nothing major.
Not currently warranted or registered for road use as the rego is on hold…. Selling as a “project” - as is / where is. Grab a good deal.
These Series 3 XJ6s are becoming increasingly hard to find in honest condition, especially unmolested examples that haven’t been butchered or rusted away. A very cool classic with huge presence and one of the prettiest saloon shapes ever made.
Selling purely because apparently I’m not allowed two Jaguars according to the household government.
Happy to answer questions. Viewing welcome.
Questions & Answers
What do you mean when you say gear lever needs adjustment, how much rust is in the rest of the car, is it on peppercorns?, can you post more photos please. raustria (2 • 1:40 am, Sun, 10 May )Good morning, Re gear lever - it has a bit of sloo in the selector - will need an adjustment … I’m told it’s relatively simple… Very very little rust - I think a little patch on a door for memory, but the sills etc where they all have issues are clean and clear.. might have even been done by a previous owner I think. It is not on pepper pots / however, I do have a set that could be negotiatied as I have a spare set for my other jag. :) jmacdaddy (193 • Sunday, 10 May 2026 )Nice Colour !!~ jaguar1x (55 • 3:01 pm, Sun, 10 May )Thanks!
