Description
If you're after a unique, easy to own, rare - even in the US now - reliable, practical, 'classic' LHD American van, this one might be right up your alley? Only one in NZ, has been here since 1991 so it's well established, and we've owned it since 2013. Interesting history, as the 2 previous owners were Formula 1 mechanics, both with McLaren, with one of them also being Jim Clark's mechanic at Lotus. This can be verified, and is why it moved from California to the United Kingdom. These are built by the Ford Truck division, and this one, being the top spec XLT version, also runs the larger Vulcan V6 with 4 speed auto and LSD which are relatively reliable and bulletproof. Now eligible for 12 month WOF's and will have rego & WOF at time of sale. Super clean underneath. Drives like a couch - beautifully smooth and comfy. I believe the 150km to be genuine and general interior is very tidy. Carpets and upholstery are very, very tidy. All parts are cheap and easy to procure from places like Rock Auto etc. Comes with some spares. The body is nicely patinaed. It's only real issue being the below average paint job on the front doors where RV mirrors were removed before our ownership (still have the mirrors). New starter, alternator and fuel pump during our ownership. Overhauled calipers, including new pistons, a couple of months ago as they were getting a bit sticky from long periods of garage sitting. Air con slowly lost gas over the years and I haven't bothered re-gassing it. It's on 15" wheels with good (5mm tread) Dunlop tyres. Engine bay is unwashed and has never been cleaned during our ownership. Original handbook is in the glovebox. Detachable square hitch towbar.
