1979 Lotus Other Elite 503
Background check
Description
Experience a prestigious British Marque with this 1979 Lotus Elite. Known for its period defining wedge design (often referred to as a shooting brake style) and outstanding performance and handling, the Lotus Elite represents a fine example of 1970’s automotive design and innovation. When initially released it was touted as the most expensive 4 cylinder car in the world. Powered by a Lotus twin cam 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, the Elite delivers impressive horsepower with handling to match. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. This 503 specification Elite retains its original power steering although the air conditioning system has been removed. The interior features leather seats and crushed velour trim – classic 1970’s ! The car was re-commissioned after several years in dry storage and at this time the engine and gearbox were removed, clutch overhauled, seals, bushes and mounts replaced as required, brakes overhauled, belts replaced, fluids replaced, new tyres all round, and power steering overhauled. The car is in very tidy condition but has a few paint chips and the headlining has been removed from the front section as it was sagging and I haven’t got around to replacing it. Many thousands have been spent to bring the car to its current standard but there is room for further improvement if desired. The 1979 Lotus Elite is competitively priced at $19,000, reflecting its condition and rarity. An interesting car which would make a great addition to a collection or to be enjoyed by a British classic car enthusiast. New wof and 6 months rego will come with car if sold close to asking price. Viewing is welcome and recommended.
