Description

FOR SALE: One-of-a-Kind Mazda MX-5 Build

Selling a very unique and extremely clean MX-5. I spent a huge amount of time and money building this car right before leaving the country, expecting to return to it — but plans have changed. Since the full build, it has only travelled around 3,000 km.

Body & Paint

  • Bare-frame strip, sandblasted, and sealed with epoxy primer (no major rust, purely protection)
  • Finished in Dragon Pearl with HS clear coat
  • Every bolt replaced or zinc-coated

Engine & Drivetrain

  • Fully rebuilt engine: rings, bearings, valve retainers, water pump, cam belt, Kelford NA cams
  • Gearbox seal kit + shifter rebuild
  • Fenix radiator + hose kit
  • AC delete kit (all AC parts included)

Suspension, Brakes & Wheels

  • Megan coilovers
  • ADB slotted rotors + race pads
  • Rotor rims with semi-slicks

Interior & Extras

  • Seats upholstered in genuine leather
  • DOT-approved halo headlights

?

Things to Note

  • ECU is an older Link model and needs a tune. Once warm, idle drops and you need to feather the throttle. A tune will fix this, or upgrade to a modern Link ECU.
  • No WOF currently. Will fail because cert plate lists 13-inch wheels; car now has 14s. Easiest fix is buying a cheap set of 13s for the WOF.

?

Price & Reason for Sale

This build cost well over $30k. I’m cutting my losses as the car now sits under a cover in my brother’s garage, only being started occasionally.

Great platform to:

  • Turbo
  • Rotor swap
  • Or enjoy as a very clean NA MX-5

I’m aware of the current NZ market and the price is slightly negotiable.
