1971 Mercedes-Benz 280 W108 $1 RES!!

Regretfully, I am listing my uncle’s 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280S (W108).

Due to illness, he has had to retire from the project and sadly won’t get the chance to finish his pride and joy following hundreds of hours of restoration and servicing work. After 60 years of Mercedes ownership and collecting, this was the one car he hoped to keep forever as our family’s jewel.

This 280S has been part of our family for a long time and was driven to the odd car show prior to being prepared for panel and paint. It has always been garaged in dry storage and the body is extremely clean with no signs of rust, a genuine survivor we wanted to take to the next level.

Three years ago, the car was stripped back to bare metal and fully prepped for paint with the intention of making it showroom-ready. All the difficult work has been completed. It is now simply waiting for a paint colour of your choice and ready to go into the spray booth.

Registration is currently on hold. Mileage 62,301, last WOF 05/2019.

All parts are meticulously labelled and organised; nothing is missing. Interior components were carefully stored and catalogued.

The upholstery, carpet, trims, dashboard, lights, chrome, glass, badges, etc., are in mint condition. The new paintwork will look just as fresh as the interior and trims.

All panels are very straight and honest. This is a true W108 survivor.

Mechanically, the car was always reliable and thoroughly serviced with no concerns upon WOF inspections. This model has a great reputation, and anyone reading this likely already knows its charm and reliability.

Inspections are welcomed in Stanmore Bay. I can also assist with transport locally and nationally and provide more photos or videos prior to bidding (20 photo limit on Trade Me).

We would be happy to see it go to someone who will finish the project and make it their own. It’s a rare opportunity to own and restore a great surviving example of a Mercedes-Benz 280S (W108).
