1972 MG MGB BGT
Description
1972 MGB GT – Overdrive – Mechanically Sorted
Up for sale is my 1972 MGB GT, a tidy classic that’s been well maintained and is mechanically sound. A great driver’s car with plenty of character, ready to enjoy as-is or take to the next level cosmetically.
Key features & recent work:
Factory-style overdrive recently installed New radiator and alternator New seatbelts Interior refreshed with new door cards and carpet Currently fitted with LVV-certified bucket seats Original seats included – freshly upholstered and ready to be refitted if preferred
Body & condition:
Structurally solid with minimal rust overall Front left wing has had rust repaired and has been repainted Paintwork is the main drawback – cracking in places and could use a respray to bring it up to standard
This is a great opportunity to get into a classic MGB GT that’s already had the important mechanical work done. Drives well, turns heads, and has plenty of potential to tidy up further if you’re that way inclined.

Questions & Answers
Hi all, although trade me says there is a reserve, it is just the starting price. Thanks! Seller comment Wednesday, 1 April 2026 Is the overdrive switch on the gearstick? ascarlyle (6 • 3:27 pm, Wed, 1 Apr )Yes, although I have a dash switch that can be included in the sale. Thanks musicmash01 (5 • Wednesday, 1 April 2026 )Could you put up some better photos of the interior, ie dash, seats, door cards etc. Thanks cx500 (93 • 3:41 pm, Wed, 1 Apr )Yep, just in the process of updating the door trim so once that is done I will chuck up some photos. Thanks :) musicmash01 (5 • Wednesday, 1 April 2026 )Can we have some more detail on ‘minimal rust overall’ thanks. jammasta (171 • 10:16 am, Thu, 2 Apr )Hi, sure thing. The wing that was repaired had bubbling and was stripped right back, treated, patched, and painted. This was the only area that was bubbling at the time and from what I can see now, there are no other areas of concern. There is some surface rust where paint has been chipped on the rear hatch. Sills appear to be good. As always with old cars, it is hard to know the full state! musicmash01 (5 • Thursday, 2 April 2026 )Forgot to mention, the shocks have also been refurbished within the last 2 years.
