1939 Morris Other D
Background check
This vehicle has been de-registered in the past and then registered again. The registration may have expired because the licence was not kept current or it may have been in an accident and written off by an insurance company.
Description
This 1939 Morris D is a fascinating piece of automotive history. It's a 4-seat sedan with suicide style doors, an 800cc petrol engine and manual gearbox, representing a genuine pre-war classic.
This is an honest sale - the car needs work but the car certainly started and ran when I last tried. It will be a project rather than something you can drive away in, but for the right person with the skills and passion for restoration, it will be a rewarding undertaking. The low reading on the odometer reflects its age and history.
The car has currently been in safe storage in my garage for 6 years and the photos show it covered in dust but the paint work is in really good condition with minimal damage, the worst mark shown in photos. The body is a lovely navy while the wheel guards are black.
Being an imported model, its full history prior to arriving in New Zealand isn't known, but cars like this are increasingly rare to find. The manual transmission and small-displacement engine are typical of the era, when motoring was a very different experience.
If you're interested in classic car restoration or you're a Morris enthusiast looking for your next project, this could be worth a look. Happy to answer any questions about what I know of the car's current condition.
Time for this little gem to find a home where it will be restored and used.
