Description
1947 Morris 8 Series E, 4-seater with an 850cc petrol engine and manual transmission - a classic piece of New Zealand motoring history.
The Morris 8 Series E is a rare find these days, especially one that's been in New Zealand since new. Next year the car will be 80 years old. It's a great opportunity for a classic car enthusiast. If you're into vintage cars and want something with real character and history and a minimum work needed to put it back on the road, this could be the one.
The engine was last time running few months ago before the petrol tank was removed. The tank needs to be cleaned and put back. I have a good spare tank as well.
I bought the car 5 years ago with the intention to enjoy my weekend motoring and if you like “parading around”.
The previous owner who restored the car. He spent few thousand dollars just on new genuine parts from the UK. At the time he listed some of the new parts as follows: brake master cylinder, wheel cylinder pistons and seals, distributor service kit, brake hoses and pipes, carburetor service kit, tires etc.
Preparing it for the WOF, I have fixed the wiring and Trafficators/flippers and obtained a new 6V battery.
There is a selection of spare parts most shown in the photos as well as few wheels with tires. Registration is on hold. The engine turns freely but as stated, it hasn’t been running for few months due to the removal of the petrol tank. Before that I have been driving the car around the block regularly at least once a month. One mudguard was taken off by the mechanic to inspect for potential rust. None was found. If my health allows, I shall put it back. If I am able to, I will continue working on the car and amend the listing accordingly, including the price.
Due to the everything mentioned above and as honestly as I could I am selling the car “As is”.
Feel free to get in touch if you'd like more details or want to come and see it.
Questions & Answers
These are great little cars. I am currently rebuilding one and need the rear window as shown in your spare parts photo. Would you be prepared to sell that separately? Cheers Warren warro (280 • 8:25 pm, Mon, 27 Apr )If a potential buyer doesn't take it, it will be for sale. I think it would be fair to provide all spare parts with the car. But let's se how it goes. Yes they are great. Unfortunately or not I have too many cars so this one must go. justonetrader (379 • Monday, 27 April 2026 )
