Yes confirm the model year is 1997. According to Nissan, the Series 3 was introduced in Feb 1997 to Nov 1998. The Xenon headlights (which I think you may be referring to) weren’t introduced until late-1997/1998 to the Series 3 as a lighting upgrade.
