1983 Porsche 944
Background check
Description
This one really does break my heart. But there's a baby on the way and no space to work on it, so it's gotta go.
If you know anything about 944s, you'll know they're incredible drivers and this is no exception. The engine runs beautifully, the suspension and steering are tight and responsive, and the rebuilt transaxle is smooth as anything. It might be the only 944 on planet earth that doesn't leak a drop of anything. I'll miss this car for years when it's gone.
I've owned it for 10 years, and there's just about nothing on it that hasn't been, fixed, tuned up, improved or in some way gone through in that time. The whole list would take up all the characters available, but a few highlights include--
- Completely rebuilt transaxle
- Completely rebuilt suspension front and rear, to replicate the factory sport suspension option (Yellow Koni sport shocks, hollow front sway bar, rear sway bar added), new CV joints, all bushes, etc
- Has a MAF conversion for better fuel economy, power and throttle response
- Torque tube rebuilt with "super bearings" from Black Sea R&D
- Prototipo steering wheel
- (Expensive) retro Blaupunkt radio with bluetooth etc
- All ignition components, fuel lines etc replaced (including the very expensive lines around the tank) and injectors serviced
- Glass-out respray in 2019 - car has been driven regularly since then and the paint is relatively soft so there are some blemishes
- Rubber window trim / weatherstripping and so on replaced
- New carpet with some more modern soundproofing, and re-covered dashboard
- New clutch early in my ownership (2016 I think). Lots of life left on it.
- Belts, rollers, water pump all done 2 years ago
- Everything in the engine bay cleaned, replaced, plated, vapour blasted, etc etc to look pretty enough to eat off!
Ask about anything else you're interested in - it'll probably have been done
