Questions & Answers
Has the clutch been done/ ims or rear oil seal been done? Is air conditioning functioning? zevons (119 • 8:13 pm, Mon, 16 Feb )The clutch was done when we bought it approx. 3 years ago. Since then, it has hardly been driven. We don't know about the seals but there are no oil leaks where it is parked in the garage. The air conditioning works perfectly. scobby4 (489 • Monday, 16 February 2026 )Ims bearing? zevons (119 • 8:36 pm, Mon, 16 Feb )Sorry again we don't know as do not have copies of receipts before we purchased. scobby4 (489 • Monday, 16 February 2026 )The Porsche Boxster S (986 and 987.1, 1997–2008) IMS bearing issue involves a failure-prone intermediate shaft bearing that can cause sudden, catastrophic engine failure. Affecting M96/M97 engines, the single-row bearing (2000-2005) is the highest risk. zevons (119 • 8:51 pm, Mon, 16 Feb )I will check with the service people and see if I can get some information on its history. scobby4 (489 • Monday, 16 February 2026 )We have found some info from Giltrap Porsche who have serviced the vehicle for almost all of its life. The clutch and pressure plate was done at 71,892km and at this time they removed the flywheel and replaced the flywheel seal and adapted the IMS. We have receipts for this work which you are very welcome to view. I can email to you if you can give me an email address. Happy for you to call me if you would like to discuss.
