1973 Rover 3500 P6B 3500S
Background check
Description
The vehicle is in very good condition, able to be driven and enjoyed as it is. The body is in very good shape, no rust evident. Paint and vinyl roof also in good condition, as is all the stainless trim and chrome. Inside, all instruments are all operational and the surrounding trim neat and tidy. The headlining and door trims are in very good condition. Carpets are in fair condition, reflecting the age of the vehicle. The upholstery is the only part of the car (see photos) that needs attention to bring the vehicle up to very good condition all round. Mechanically all is in order, with significant maintenance done in 2018, we are advised after a long period in storage - receipts available. Note that the car is a model S - 4 speed manual transmission which is much more sought after, giving more control over gear shifts and better performance. Also included in the sale are two boot lids, one with the "Continental Kit" boot fitting which I bought to transfer onto the other boot lid in clean condition so I could have this configuration which I think enhances the look of the car. An original Rover tyre cover completes the added items, I have been told that the car was bought new in the UK and driven back to NZ as an adventure. This accounts for the imported status on my listing, the car being first registered in NZ as per the photo of the registration papers. Also I was told that the car was when bought in 1990, as per the last entry on the papers, stored until resold in 2018 when it was taken to Christchurch where the mechanical rejuvenation recorded on receipts available was done. I bought the car from the Christchurch owner, and have driven it regularly. I'm selling because I've run out of covered storage.
Questions & Answers
What is the significant mechanical upgrade? A 5 speed Rover gearbox perhaps? wjalco (474 • 5:06 pm, Sun, 7 Dec )Possibly unfortunate wording. Should have said "significant maintenance work completed". The vehicle is as far as I know, all original and authentic. harryjd (6 • Sunday, 7 December 2025 )Hi, would you sell the boot lid with spare carrier and the tyre cover separately? I can arrange shipping to Christchurch. Cheers, Mark. morrisonchch (96 • 9:49 am, Wed, 24 Dec )sorry for the delay, was just checking that I only had one of my two boot lids fitted with the bracket to take the spare wheel. Otherwise I could have sold you one bus sorry I want to keep the offering intact to hopefully increase my chances of a sale. Thanks for your interest. harryjd (6 • Wednesday, 24 December 2025 )Towbar? Overdrive? witwot (377 • 8:56 pm, Sat, 3 Jan )No tow bar, believe provision for one. No overdrive, deemed unnecessary by Rover on S model, approx 2600 rpm at 60, 3000 at 70. harryjd (6 • Saturday, 3 January 2026 )
