1973 Rover P6 V8. NZ-new but built to English production specs with the high compression 10.5:1 ratio engine, centre roof radio aerial, English issue steering wheel and the English leather upholstery. Corsica Blue. BW35 3 speed automatic. Original interior as straight off the Nelson production line including the original Autocrat AM radio. Upgraded with: Power steering, original type, reconditioned; Continental Touring kit for the boot lid, an original lid sourced and rebuilt (a new repro badge comes with it); Electronic ignition for better tuning, reliability and life; Electric fuel pump for better starting and to prevent hot weather fuel line vaporisation; New, larger capacity copper and brass radiator core using the original tanks to improve the cooling in the summer; a modern coil and plug leads.
Selling on behalf of my elderly mother as Dad passed away a few years ago and it was his car. It has had very little use over the past four years, but now has a fresh WOF and Rego plus a resleeved brake master cylinder. It runs well, though some fresh fuel and a little tune up wouldn't hurt. Odometer is in miles, just under 90400 at present.
Late 2019 the car had a panels off de-rust and repaint. All removable panels (except the roof) were removed from the car, doors stripped out, and all were professionally de-rusted and repainted in base colour and clear coat. Underseal was then painted on all underside weather exposed panels and the doors internally splashed with Fish Oil. The screen and doors were replaced with new rubbers. The original steel inlet manifold hot box water breather pipe has been replaced with a brass one as the original had rusted beyond repair. This has been done and at the same time I chose to replace all the gaskets, the temperature sensor, the thermostat, and all water hoses. At the same time, I re-painted the grey aluminium rocker covers, inlet manifold etc.
Car can be viewed in Whangarei
