Description
ROVER 75, 2001 NZ New 2.5Litre V6 Genuine low kilometres, 93,385. Fresh WoF and 6 months rego Runs like a clock, Cambelt done 45,000 ago. Oil Cooler hoses replaced (with industrial quality high temp hoses) Good tyre tread all-round New thermostat & 'o' rings Near new battery (approx 9 months old). Clean & tidy interior, excellent paintwork Undamaged, with very few marks, particularly for its age. Has had seat covers fitted, but upholstery under them is pretty much as new. Likewise the steering wheel, the cover was on it when I got the car, but underneath it the wheel leather is excellent. (I'm waiting for shoulder surgery and cannot get the damned thing off). A very straight & tidy car complete with the original owners manual. Inspection welcome.
Questions & Answers
Lovely car. What's the condition of the cooling system? Under bonnet photo suggest rust and a blow out at some stage? Related to new thermostat? earth2mike (73 • 11:46 pm, Mon, 6 Apr )Yes, that is what happened. They didn't put the hose clamps back properly including the ones that connect the thermostat housing to the waterpump. The seals were also old and perishing so I stripped it all down and put new seals in. I Molykoted them with111 as well so they will probably last forever. The cooling system is now in excellent condition as I flushed it as well. laingwood (256 • Monday, 6 April 2026 )Are there any issues to disclose? Has there been left front damage? earth2mike (73 • 12:21 am, Tue, 7 Apr )None that I am aware of except the screen on the sunroof shade which could use recovering. I'm waiting for shoulder surgery and cannot work with my arms above my head so I have had to leave that job. And no, there is no front panel damage, the paint is all original and has clearly been very well looked after. No fade at all. laingwood (256 • Tuesday, 7 April 2026 )Thanks for the answers so far. Do we know when the timing belts were changed? More than 6 years ago likely? Common issues appear to be the drains under the windscreen blocking and flooding the ECU and also leaking into the boot. Do these appear to have occurred? Ditto snapped springs, corroded rear arms, disk warp. Colour of splatter under the bonnet may suggest rust in the cooling system. Apologies for the many questions, I'm not local so I need to eliminate issues before driving for hours. earth2mike (73 • 12:23 am, Fri, 10 Apr )Likely more than 6 years ago. I bought all the bits to do a change but when I started pulling covers I realised the belts are in excellent condition which fits with the car's history. The previous owner lived & worked about 2 to 3kms from Wellington Hospital and lost his wife to cancer after a long illness. The parts are all in the boot. No drain problems, I'm told the car was always garaged. Car was driven here from Wgtn without problem. Everything else is in good nick, new WoF just issued laingwood (256 • Friday, 10 April 2026 )
