1999 Rover MG F
Background check
Description
MOSTLY AFTER SWAPS FOR A MANUAL CAR AT THE MOMENT BUT ALL SWAPS CONSIDERED
This 1999 Rover MGF is a classic British roadster in good working order. Compact two-seater convertible, giving you a sports car feel with its mid-engine layout and manual gearbox.
The 1.8-litre petrol engine is fuel efficient for a sports car, making it an affordable option. The VVC (Variable Valve Control) system varies the opening of the valves, similar to systems like Honda's VTEC, providing more power all the way up the 7200rpm redline. This makes a reasonable 107kw and 174nm. The MGF is quite easy to drive, with the lightweight mid-engine design helping with handling. It has classic British sports car style with some nice practical touches (decent boot space).
Features include:
- 5 speed manual transmission
- Two-seater convertible
- Mid-engine layout
- Compact size for easy parking
- Good fuel economy
- Xpower rear spoiler
- Aftermarket headunit with Bluetooth
- 1 year old Bridgestone Potenza RE003 high performance tires all round
- Custom catback exhaust (not too loud)
- Uprated 52mm throttle body (better response than the factory 48mm one)
Some things to note, the Hydragas suspension has been serviced by Paul Walbran Motors. The soft top roof is mostly in good nick, interior has minor wear and tear for it's age and the dashboard is cracked. 1st gear and reverse can be a bit sticky if not warmed up properly. Otherwise drives fine, no leaks, compression seems fine (head gasket done last year for peace of mind). Recent service. It has a current WOF. Paint is also in good condition. Spark plugs and HT leads done recently. Also the coolant pipe underneath was replaced with a stainless steel one.
This is an affordable sports car that is not too difficult to drive, this could be right for you. Get a convertible in your garage ready for this summer!
Keen on trades of similar value, cash both ways. All reasonable offers will be considered but mostly interested in swaps at the moment as I don't have another car right now.
Questions & Answers
Is dash board crack repairable. How bad is soft top "mostly in good nick"?? Any doubts that it will pass WOF ? nirvana13 (46 • 2:25 pm, Fri, 24 Oct )Yes, the dash board should be repairable and the soft top roof does not leak or I haven't noticed any rips too, it is just a little bit faded from the sun, even the plastic rear window is still quite clear. Nothing to note for WOF at the moment, I hope this helps. nguyen-meister (18 • Friday, 24 October 2025 )
