1994 Rover Other JDM Mini-Maruyama Cooper S injected
Description
1994 Rover Mini-Maruyama Cooper Si, a rare imported classic with real character. A great opportunity to own something special Rover factory Cooper is quoted as 62bhp. John Cooper Si conversion performance is quoted as 82bhp. A 20% increase on factory Coopers. Has a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds. Carjam lists this 1994 Mini Cooper S as 1 of 1 in NZ. Imported in 2017 by a retired car importer as 'something special', for his private collection. Current enthusiast owner last 3 years, who has sadly, run out of garage space.
This is the Japanese-market Mini Cooper S with fuel injection, making it a bit different from what you'd normally see. It's got the 1275cc engine paired with a 4 speed sequential auto transmission, and air conditioning, which is an unusual combination for a Mini but makes it a more relaxed drive around town.
The car is in very good condition, both mechanically and cosmetically. Being an imported model, I'm the third New Zealand owner. It's a 4-seater that's quite practical for its size, and the fuel-injected setup runs well and starts reliably.
These JDM Minis don't come up often, and this one has the John Cooper Garages upgrade Si kit sanctioned by Rover for Dealers such as Mini-Maruyama of Japan, and has been well looked after. The auto gearbox takes away some of the typical Mini effort in traffic, which might appeal if you want the classic look without the constant gear changes. It's a fun little car that stands out from the usual classic Minis you see around.
