2008 Skoda Octavia RS TFSI
Description
This could be the car for you if you want something a bit different with a manual gearbox and proven drivetrain, mechanical condition over cosmetic perfection, and a practical car that's still fun to drive.
Uses the VW GTI MK5 drivetrain (147kW 2.0 TFSI turbo, 6-speed manual) in a more spacious liftback body.
Selling as I've just upgraded. It's been my trusty daily for six years. It has just (19th May 2026) had a service, new WOF, and wheel alignment. Mechanic’s only note on the service sheet was “Lower control arm rear bush may be due next service.”
$1 reserve as it’s an uncommon car and hard to price. Viewings and accompanied test drives welcome in Onehunga, evenings/weekends.
Known issues:
- Paint has done it tough - bumpers faded, bonnet & roof have spotty clearcoat failure, spoiler has lost most of its clearcoat. Sides are better. See photos.
- Rear window washer doesn’t work. The rear wiper is fine.
- Occasional dash vibration at idle. Slight wind noise from one door at speed. Music fixes it.
- Needs minimum 95 RON petrol.
Good bits:
- Starts, drives, boosts etc as it should. No warning lights. No mods.
- AC is cold. Heater is hot.
- Great service history, tonnes of invoices included. Cambelt & water pump done at 170k.
- New WOF & service. Comes with two keys, owner's manual, full-service logbook. Good tyres (Michelin Pilot Sport). Plenty of meat left on the brakes.
- Highly spec’d car with cruise control, factory xenon auto headlights, auto-wipers, hill-hold, front & rear parking sensors, factory 12-speaker amplified sound system with AUX, leather/Alcantara interior.
- Has a DDPAI dashcam hardwired, and an aftermarket Bluetooth handsfree kit for music & calls.
Fun to drive, goes like stink, and it’s already scratched so you don’t have to worry. You can park it anywhere as it’s too ugly to steal, and the modern thief can't drive manual anyway! Fun, worry-free motoring. What more could you want?
