Description

Note distance traveled is in Miles 1968 Triumph Vitesse 2litre (six cylinder) With only a limited number imported for assembly in New Zealand it is a relatively rare car. It was first sold and registered in Thames where it spent 24 years with one family. It is in top condition, current WOF (Dec 2026) & REGO (Sep 2026). It has the original engine, the colour indicating a major overhaul in the past, possibly a Motor Specs Gold Seal rebuild. In 2011, I had it professionally stripped to bare metal and repainted in the original colour ( with the stripe added) to a high standard, The paint work is still like new other than the small scratch shown in the photo. It has also been professionally re upholstered, has near new Michelin tyres, rust free and mechanically very sound, well maintained, and drives well. It always attracts attention. Having owned this great car for over 15 years, we also have other interests and it has become very underused so it is time for it to go to where it will be appreciated.

  • Despite what you may have been told by others, the Vitesse was not assembled in NZ but imported fully built up. Only Herald 1200 and 13/60 in both saloon and estate were assembled here. Initially at Christchurch, then Nelson from late 1965 until December 1971. Good luck with the sale. innsbruck72 (120) • 9:40 am, Thu, 27 Nov You may be correct regarding the Vitesse 6 and the latter mark 2 but there was approximately 100 came out as kit sets, assembled in Nelson at the point where UK produced the Mark 2. The Vin/Chassis. number of NZ assembled was preceded with a "3" The Vin/Chassis number of the vehicle is '3HC9898DL The NZ assembled also had some NZ content in it as was required at the time, among things of NZ manufacture, includes glass, and wheels so NZ fitted 3.5 inch rather than 4.5 inch ngonur (68) • Thursday, 27 November 2025
  • This is my second Vitesse, I had my first one in 1970 which I personally maintained and drove 107,000 miles. I have fitted 4.5 inch Triumph rims to this car. Seller comment Thursday, 27 November 2025
