1972 Triumph Other GT6 2.5 (150BHP TR5 PI Engine)
Background check
Description
Triumph GT6 with 150BHP TR5 engine and overdrive. Not a concours vehicle but is far from your average GT6 and has the foundation to become a potential utopian Triumph without requiring recertification.
Has the PI setup however the vehicle was recently recommissioned with a carburettor setup over. Very few seem to know how to configure and maintain the PI setup, with $10k+ spent over the last 5 years.
Car is running and road legal however requires fine-tuning to complete setup, particularly around cold-starting and idling.
Vehicle comes with both PI and carburettor components. Suspected diaphragm issue with the PI setup. Photos show both setups - the last photo is currently as-is with the carb setup.
Reluctantly up for sale due to genuine reasons.
Loads of history with photos of past restoration.
Issues we know about:
-Cold start and idle setup
- Faulty overdrive
- Driver seat ripped and foam needs replacing
- Brake squeak from passenger side front
- Paintwork needs refreshing (see photos - idea was to fully refurbish next year once mechanical stuff was sorted).
We have some bullet mirrors and chrome vents that will come with the vehicle, as well as gaskets to sort (minor) oil leaks at a later date.
Car is currently dry-stored in Golden Bay.
We are currently overseas attending to important family matters. Please email for further information.
No money owing. No swaps, low ball offers or time wasters.
Note- we will consider exporting the vehicle back to the UK if no reasonable offers come from NZ. The engine alone (with hot cam and all ancillary components) is valued at around the current NZD asking price.
