Description
1954 Triumph TR2. Long door model. 4 speed with overdrive. Current owner has had the car for over 45 years. Slowly modified for Targa NZ use. List of modifications is extensive but includes race seats, roll bar, harnesses, front disc brakes, rack and pinion steering, uprated suspension (Revington), uprated carburettors (Dellorto), rally cam etc. Not in "concourse" condition but drives well and has been regularly maintained. Leaks oil like the best of British. Body off restoration in 1980's. Have shifted house and no room for this car - plus too many other projects - so, reluctantly, she needs to go.
Questions & Answers
Does it have full wet weather gear including side screens?. barka1 (236 • 9:33 am, Tue, 13 Jan )Yes has roof and side screens. As with all 1950’s soft top cars it’s a bit of a stretch to describe it as full wet weather gear. curdled (6 • Tuesday, 13 January 2026 )Not that im overly keen to retro fit the orginals to replace the modifications, but do you have the originals and why the mods are they weak points on the car. i had an early TR2 from memory # 556 with wire wheel always regret selling it now have a XK8 should have bought another TR2 much less refined but more fun and easeier to maintain . Are you oen to offers is this car know to the TR Register richardj007 (261 • 9:41 pm, Thu, 22 Jan )Mods were made over the years to make it a better Targa car (power, handling and braking). Certainly not weaknesses. Some mods could be reversed. I've got original steering column etc but not the steering wheel. I've got original seats. Sold or donated other stuff. Open to offers but will let the listing run to the end. curdled (6 • Thursday, 22 January 2026 )Have been member of TR Register since I bought the car in late 1970's Seller comment Friday, 23 January 2026 What a fabulous little car. You couldn't hope to buy a TR2 and get it into Targa trim for anywhere near this sum. A great buy for somebody, not me sadly, as I have several already! No connection to vendor, just 50 plus years of TR ownership. 423 (214 • 11:30 am, Wed, 28 Jan )Thanks for the comment. I’ll be sad to see it go as it’s treated me well for a long time. curdled (6 • Wednesday, 28 January 2026 )
