Description

1938 STANDARD SPEEDSTER built in Levin in 1960s .One owner for over 40 years .She was a classic club car used on many rallys , raced and mud plugged . A stunning looker that attracts attention like bees round a honeypot . Recently completed a 2 year restoration. Body is polished aluminium with powder coated 1937 Chev wheels shod with good , 17" white wall cross plys . Power is by 1963 Triumph 2000 with twin strombergs with a 4 speed gearbox . She has heaps of grunt and sounds glorious through her stainless steel, fishtail exhaust , which is wrapped and screened to prevent burning the driver . Plenty of space for a 6' driver . SYVIA has new solenoid , starter motor , electronic ignition , fuel pump kit , water pump , radiator , stainless exhaust with fishtail , engine and gearbox mounts , clutch and pressure plate . Has excellent soft top , quarter side screens and tonneau cover . Transmission is covered in calf skin while dash is timber with full range of instruments . Bonnet straps , head and tail lights plus aluminium roll bars complete the overall picture of a Classic Cafe racer . Has been continually WOF ed and costs only $173 pa to register with Classic Car insurance less than $200 annually . Heaps of fun to drive , reliable and cruises at 85 -90km effortlessly still with plenty of grunt on tap . She has just returned from a 450km day trip to the Carters Beach Car Show and that drive through the Buller Gorge is always a memorable drive .

Thank you John. 4/- mojos (95) • 11:29 am, Thu, 5 Feb 1..fuel cap and cottrel emblem are heavy brass has not been a problem for the 60 + years or 56,000 miles of motoring . The fishtail extends past the Inlet. 2..motorcycle guards are steel and painted with Zinc aluminum paint . Still have the flat steel guards and the rear luggage rack which go with the car. 3..Aluminum is polished and just doesn't dull AutoSol keeps her gleaming .Has been used on a few 500km trips . 4.Black powder coating look far better than existing white paint Cheers 4sticky (118) • Thursday, 5 February 2026
