Description

1973 Triumph Toledo – Excellent Condition, Proven Long-Distance Classic

This 1973 Triumph Toledo is a well-maintained, highly usable classic that’s ready to be driven and enjoyed. Showing 95,000 km, it’s in excellent condition for its age and has been looked after properly, not parked up and forgotten.

An interesting bit of history: three of its previous owners were Air Force personnel, and in the late 1980s the car was even transported in the back of a Hercules from Wellington to Auckland.

The Toledo is easy to drive, starts reliably, and has had no major issues during ownership. It’s a true get-in-and-drive classic, not a project.

Last year it completed 5,500 km in just three weeks, doing a full figure-8 tour of the South Island, with room for tents and camping gear. It has proven itself on long trips and challenging terrain:

Never overheats and actually runs quite cool

Climbed major South Island mountain roads without issue

Driven up Baldwin Street (NZ’s steepest road)

Successfully tackled Skippers Canyon, despite its reputation as a 4WD-only route

Has visited every South Island car museum and most in the North Island

This is a classic that’s been used as intended and proven to be dependable, comfortable, and enjoyable on real roads.

Good to know

Not a show trailer queen — it’s a mechanically honest, road-proven classic

Ideal for classic rallies, touring, or weekend drives

Easy to live with and far more confidence-inspiring than many classics of this era

If you’re after a classic with genuine history, excellent reliability, and the ability to be driven anywhere, this Triumph Toledo is hard to beat. if you have any questions, please reach out via phone or email.
