1930 Triumph Other Super Seven Roadster
Description
When Triumph gave Arthur Sykes the job of building a car to take on the Austin 7, he asked the chap who'd designed it, Stanley Edge, to come and work for Triumph. It's no wonder that the Triumph Super Seven looked much like its Austin rival. There was good reason to argue it was superior, with modern three-main bearing crankshaft and monoblock crankcase. The Super 7’s target was the Austin 7, which it absolutely outscored. The Triumph was 150mm longer & 50mm wider than the Austin. Its 832cc, 4-cylinder, side-valve engine was designed with a 3 bearing crankshaft that was pressure lubricated and a monobloc crankcase made from cast iron. Lockheed hydraulic brakes, with internally-expanding shoes in 240mm drums and the handbrake operates on the transmission. This charming Super 7 is a very rare find. Most people have never seen one, Not built for speed, but a joy to drive – it brings a smile to the face of anyone who sees it and gets lots of attention when out and about. This car has been cherished and exercised regularly on rallies and runs. Being keen Triumph enthusiasts, we were keen to keep the car in good condition following its acquisition in 2015 and have maintained it regularly. This car is the Roadster body style that seats 2 with room for small person(s) in the Dickey Seat You simply don't see these come up for sale – they are extremely rare in NZ, let alone an example half as nice as this one.
