Damaged import check

This vehicle was imported into New Zealand with obvious damage or deterioration. This alert will not appear if the vehicle had superficial dents to some of its body panels.

Description

Australian-spec Mk7.5 Golf R-Line — fully optioned with features rarely found in NZ outside the Golf R:

* Full leather interior with heated front seats * 3-position memory electric driver’s seat * Dynaudio premium sound system * Large touchscreen with digital instrument cluster * Dual-zone climate control * Radar cruise control & full safety suite * Economical 1.4 TSI engine (5.4L/100km Hamilton–Auckland)

History

Imported to NZ in 2020 as a damaged vehicle by a redundant airline pilot as a project, not a dodgy second hand dealer. The damage was cosmetic only — a sideswipe to the front right — with the following parts replaced: front bumper, right headlight, front right quarter panel, driver’s door, and wing mirror. No structural, fire, or flood damage.

It carries an Australian statutory write-off classification, which under NSW law applies to all written-off vehicles regardless of damage severity — even minor panel damage. This is why it cannot be re-registered in Australia, but it is perfectly legal and registered here in New Zealand.

Two subsequent repairs in NZ:

* 2022 — A rat entered the vehicle, requiring a full interior strip and parts replacement (~$15,000) * 2025 — Minor rear-end collision at a roundabout, no airbag deployment, repaired under insurance

Zero mechanical issues throughout ownership. Regularly serviced to manufacturer’s schedule. Will be getting new WoF and service this week. Currently not being driven. Located in Morrinsville or Eureka but for a serious offer (maybe a $100 deposit to show intent) I could take it to work and meet around Auckland Airport for a test drive.

Sold to my mother-in-law in 2023 when we moved to EVs. Selling on her behalf as she is no longer able to drive due to health reasons.

Photos of the original repair available on request.

A genuinely well-specified Mk7.5 Golf at a discounted price — the history is colourful, but the car is excellent.
