1972 Volkswagen Kombi
Background check
This vehicle has been de-registered in the past and then registered again. The registration may have expired because the licence was not kept current or it may have been in an accident and written off by an insurance company.
Description
1972 VW Kombi 'Crossover' model. Very original. This is the 3rd Kombi the family have owned. This is a really nice example of a Westfalia bay window model. When purchased, it was hard to start when hot, so an electric fuel pump was fitted. This has solved that issue. There is oil leaking from a pushrod tube so I purchased a 1641cc big bore kit because changing the leaking pushrod tube require one cylinder head to be removed. At that point, it's not much more work to fit the big bore kit to that side, and not a lot more to fit it to the other side, so why not really? The big bore kit in the box is included along with new pushrods and seals.
There is some very minor rust on the bottom of one door (as per photo). It appears surface only but was like that when we got it and has not got worse. Always kept in a garage in our ownership. Located in Rangiora.
Note: Kilometres are a best guess. The speedo only has 5 digits.
