Britax Cooper Mini racing car
Description
The car is a 1969 Mini with the engine built by Jody Vincent. It was raced mainly in the North Island by Mini Cranx in Levin.
It has had a major freshen up to ready for pre 78 racing in the South Island. Full repaint and has original genuine Britax Cooper livery imported from the UK to present an exact replica of the famous Cooper Minis raced successfully in the British Saloon Car Championship by the Cooper Car company against the Broadspeed Mk1 Ford Escorts in the late 1960's. This was the first race car runner for the developing Mini based Cooper Racing team before they later reverted to the famous green livery. Heaps of famous British heritage here and immaculate presentation, ready to go.
It has a 1310cc engine, balanced crank, Lynn Rogers cylinder head, race camshaft, 1.5 rockers, SCCR gearbox, competition 4 pin diff, billet flywheel, and vernier timing gears. Recently on dyno it delivered 85hp and should be very competitive among the lower cc cars in the pre 78 field. Car has had the mandatory glass screens fitted, roof lining, door cards, reupholstered rear and passenger seats fitted and new genuine small wheel arches.
Fun car to drive. Like steering a go cart and will compete with most of the field on the bends. Great car to enter the thrill, excitement and comradery of the friendly pre 78 crew.
Owner has spotted another project and selling well below refurb cost at $22,500. May also sell custom sized tidy trailer for a little more.
