Vauxhall Viva HB 2dr club competition car

An HB Viva club / race / rally car. A now rare two-door. Excellent body and paint - no rust, has never been rusty. Started with a really clean, low owners car. Live original black plates. MotorSport NZ homologated rollcage and logbook. Good 2.3 slant OHC on Weber 45 DCOEs. Nissan Navara 5-speed gearbox, Holden Rodeo diff. So, all GM bar the box (but includes a close ratio Vauxhall box). 13x7 JBW wheels, original Viva 4" / 101.6mm stud pattern/PCD. 20+ years project which has been driven/tested along the road in its current format but never in anger. LVVTA was started and most of the initial checklist has been sorted. Currently needing some mechanical reconfiguring, mainly braking system - all pretty basic stuff. I'm bumbling along with a couple of tasks on it at the mo. Could suit Historic Muscle & Saloon Cars (NI), Pre-78 (SI) or as a general club race or rally car.

Jan/Feb 2026:

• new high performance gear reduction starter motor fitted
• accelerator system removed and replaced with a sensible arrangement
• battery and cabling reconfigured
• unused Sparco Evo II QRT seat fitted (bought a few years ago for $1340!)
• brake/clutch fluid reservoir mounting, hoses, fittings, etc, being revised
• front brake calipers being reconditioned with new pistons and seal kits
• et cetera.

Club level / grassroots circuit racing has become largely unaffordable in the upper and middle North Island. Thunder Ridge (Tect Park, Tauranga) is happening and will at least address the entry costs. Buy yourself one of the sensibly-priced competition cars on Trademe at the mo, fettle it over the next year or so and be ready for motor racing by and for proper enthusiasts.
