With a car dolly you simply drive your vehicle onto the dolly’s flatbed so that your front wheels are off the pavement. The dolly is attached to your towing vehicle using the towball. For many people this offers an appealing way to have a vehicle towed behind their motorhome. It has included a degree of steerability via the floating turntable so that the dolly will follow the towing vehicle. This will reduce extra wear and tear on the rear tyres of your towed vehicle.

The car dolly’s bed is made of checker plate which helps with grip and minimises movement whilst in transit. The towed car is held on by covers over the front wheels that are strapped to the flat bed. There are also extra hooks if you wish to attach the safety chain to the chassis of the car dolly as well.

A car dolly cannot tow a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Most other 2-wheel drive vehicles are fine to be towed, but please do your own research first.

The car dollies drawbar can slide under the motorhome at camping grounds to save on space if required.

Questions & Answers

  • Hi What is the O/All width of the car you have been towing on this dolly? Front image shows the wheel very close to the frame of the dolly any issues when the turntable rotates? brett351 (279) • 8:48 am, Sun, 1 Mar Hi, we have been towing a Suzuki Ignis on the dolly, behind a Motorhome, the overall width of a Suzuki Ignis is 1,690mm, I put the BMW 328i on the dolly to highlight you can also use the dolly to take wider vehicles, the turntable works great, the reason for the turn table is to take the pressure off the towing vehicle when cornering, the towed vehicle follows the path of the towing vehicle when cornering, reducing tyre wear etc...... kevoo7 (190) • Sunday, 1 March 2026
  • What is the distance between the (looking for the correct terminology here...) uprights to which the trailer axles are mounted please? I'm wanting to find out if the width of my car to the outside of its tyres means that it will fit. 1955zephyr (56) • 12:26 pm, Sun, 1 Mar Hi, I think you are refering to the distance between the inside of the L/H and R/H inner guards, this is just over 190cm (1.9 metres), the BMW 528i in the photo's attached is approx 183cm's wide, I would suggest working out how wide your vehicle is from the outside of each front tyre, if its less than 190cm's, then it will fit, hope this makes sense. kevoo7 (190) • Sunday, 1 March 2026
  • Is the 1900 inside dimension the smallest I/S dimension? You state the measure is between the guards, from images I've seen the guards sit further out than the supports for the stub axles can you confirm what the dimension is between the inner most points of the stub axles, the car I'm looking at using it for is wider O/A that the dimension you have stated for the 528 brett351 (279) • 6:39 pm, Sun, 1 Mar Hi, the distance between the stub axles is 190cm, I have just uploaded another pic, hopefully this helps explain this for you. kevoo7 (190) • Sunday, 1 March 2026
