trailer with honda motor

Description

This trailer represents a trial at developing an on-site processing of macerated paper to be shredded on site, have a damp-process pH-neutral fire retardant impregnated into the paper as it is processed then blown into flat ceiling areas as an high r-value, low density, cost-effective, environmentally-friendly domestic insulation.

The trailer design sourced as many parts as possible from a Honda EB1 car.

The hammer mill and blower have moved on to other projects and this extended-use-of-resources concept is not appropriate in 2025 or beyond.

The trailer was built new by a highly skilled engineer who mostly worked on maintaining and manufacturing NZ industrial processing equipment in the pre-Rogernomics era. It was sprayed with a matt black protective paint. The rust is surface oxidation only as far as I can see but I have not inspected carefully. It now looks awful. The trailer has been stored under cover in the ground-level vegetation-free space under a building since 1992.

The long tongue provides working space to feed the hammer mill from product in the back of a station wagon.

I did not register the trailer for road use as we never got past the machine trial stage.

I did not try turning over the motor when I took the pictures last month; I believe it will spin normally. The image of the crankcase oil on the dipstick shows clear, freshly-changed oil with a new oil filter installed for initial test runs in 1992.

Feel free to ask questions. Viewing by appointment and pre-arrangement on a Tuesday mid-morning is possible for an approved, serious buyer, not gawkers.

Pick up area Te Atatu South. Buyer must remove from the site. I do not recall clearly but believe I towed the trailer to the storage site rolling on its own wheels as shown in the pictures. It was a Kelly-Tarlton-type rush period leading up to establishing Adventure Cycles in a derelict space in Fort Lane, Central Auckland.
