An art lover's dream in Rodney

The perfect blend of class, culture and comfort.

The word ‘unique’ is thrown around far too much when talking about homes. But trust us, you won’t be finding a bespoke property like this anywhere else, any time soon.

The product of a creative collaboration between artist Terry Stringer and architect Pip Cheshire, 138 Mahurangi West Road offers limitless potential to buyers, with all sorts of residential and commercial possibilities firmly on the table.

To find out more about this one of a kind property, we spoke to Ray White’s Sue Hatton.

The grounds

The property at 138 Mahurangi West Road is a perfect haven for someone who wants peace and quiet, but easy access to Auckland’s CBD. The property comprises 2.71 hectares of land, and Sue describes the setting as a combination of “lush lawns, landscaped gardens and the ancient kauri forest, creating a unique experience of living in nature.”

Just beyond the property is yet more beautiful landscape with the trails, bush and bays of Mahurangi Regional Park on its doorstep. Meanwhile, for lovers of culture, Puhoi Bohemian Village will be an absolute delight to have so close to hand, and Auckland city itself is only 35 minutes’ drive.

Across the threshold

The property itself is a creative’s dream, divided into separate buildings, one a former gallery, and the other a converted woolshed. The gallery is currently run as a successful luxury accommodation business, while the owners live in the woolshed.

Inside the gallery, you’ll find two luxury suites. The lower level Forest Suite is decorated with original Terry Stringer artwork, and is made up of a fully equipped kitchen, a cosy lounge with a gas fireplace and a dining room. The suite’s bedroom offers peaceful views out over the impressive kauri trees.

On the upper level is The Cloud Suite, which was the former home of Terry Stringer and his partner. Here, you’ll find an expansive lounge and dining area, again with a gas fireplace, and an artisan gallery style kitchenette featuring countertop elements. As well as stunning views, the bedroom comes equipped with an ensuite, powder room and underfloor heating.

The current vendors converted the old Woolshed into a luxury home that has to be seen to be believed. The living spaces in this building are open plan, and comprise a dining room and designer kitchen, with easy connection to a lush flat lawn, veggie beds and bountiful fruit trees. In addition to the current master suite, there’s scope to convert a large downstairs space, currently used as a home office, into a generous second bedroom. The downstairs also has a double internal access garage - as does the gallery, as well as off street parking galore.

With so many spaces to work with, Sue says the next owners could live and work from home, take on the existing luxury accommodation business (in the former gallery), or base themselves in the gallery itself and rent out the woolshed.

138 Mahurangi West Road is to be sold by deadline sale by April 8th, 2021.
