This display image was taken to mark 50 Years of CCM, 1971 to 2021.
CCM was started by Alan Clewes in 1971 who built a lightweight B50MX racer and discovered there was a market for more. In addition to building the lightest, fastest and most expensive 4 stroke motocross machines, CCM fielded riders in the National MX Championships and a team in the World 500cc MX Championships. They built machines from 500cc to 608cc, including enduro mounts plus a limited run of 105 350cc trials machines.
In 1973, Wright won CCM's first motocross race at Glastonbury. He also raced in the Farleigh GP, where he was the victim of a political protest that resulted in an unjustified suspension. He amazed American fans at the United States GP, where he finished the race despite dropping his bike . He raced a CCM Works MX 500 in 1980. The bike featured the new wide case engine with very very being produced as the production of the BSA based engines came to an end in circa 1981. Bob also competed in trials on the CCM 300T model
