Description

The infamous Mrs Habib’s car. One Lady Owner. Well-known around the Taupo area, this is a genuine one-lady-owner-from-new Volkswagen Beetle. Mrs Habib treasured this car, and it shows in every possible way. Not only has it been kept in exceptional condition, but every journey has been meticulously recorded — miles driven, fuel added, litres used, running costs, and more. All work and servicing have been carefully documented. The logbooks alone are extraordinary. Presented in classic white with a black interior, the car remains exactly as Volkswagen intended (with the addition of period spotlights). Even when she was no longer able to drive in recent years, it stayed garaged, warranted, registered, and regularly serviced. As a testament to its condition, it started instantly and drove from Taupo to Auckland without missing a beat. This is not a restoration. The car has never been taken apart. Everything has been maintained or replaced only as needed, using correct new parts throughout its life. (The logs note an engine recondition in 1984 and repainting in 2008.) It truly needs to be seen to be appreciated. Original VW NZ sales material still sits in the glovebox, along with period brochures, colour charts, and even discount coupons for optional Volkswagen upgrades. My aunt loved this car, and we hope it finds a new owner who is just as passionate about Beetles as she was — someone who will appreciate its history and continue caring for it in the remarkable condition she preserved.
