1998 Rover MG F
Description
Nothing like a picture taken in perfect conditions to show case the best of this vehicle! But lets be honest, this car is anything but perfect. I've owned it for about two years, purchased with no maintenance history. Since then, it has been fully serviced and a number of mechanical issues addressed, but as with any car that's nearly 30 years old, there is alway plenty to do!
The paint is pretty average, with the lacquer starting to peel on the bonnet. The soft top is in average-poor condition, but it does come with a hard top with new roof lining. Electrics and airconditioning are functioning. The upholstery has no rips/tears, but it is 30 years old, and showing its age. Seat lowering springs have been installed, and the radio/speakers updated to as least give bluetooth connectivity.
It has had a leak (suspect from the air box into the passanger well). The carpet/underlay have been removed, dried out and reinstalled and I have puchased the MG TF 'snorkle' as a permanent fix to this common problem. Both front suspension flasks have been replaced, and the vehicles comes with a hydralastic hand pump to maintain the suspension/ride. The cambelt/head gasket have been done on this vehicle, although there is no indication as to when this was done - suspect it will be to be done again within the next 30,000 kms.
But the vehicle runs well - I've driven it from Wellington to the Far North and back in less than a week (>2,000 km), I've had it at Mansfield Park Raceway, and used it as a daily communter (80km per day) with no issues. It is a fun ride - a street legal go cart!
The auction includes:
- the car
- personalised plate (VVCMG)
- hard top, with new roof lining
- hydralastic pump
- MG TF snorkle to replace the stock air box your first project!
