Trade Me’s top property listings in June

Character cottages, extravagant mansions, and panoramic views take the top spots for June.

20 July 2021

Whether it be to search for a first home, a dream home, or simply browse the wacky & extravagant homes that exist across Aotearoa – there's no denying that kiwis’ are passionate about property. These were the most popular properties in June.

8. Hillside gem in Huntsbury

Christchurch dominated our popular properties this month. This hillside house in Huntsbury caught the attention of 7400 kiwis’ – and was quickly snapped up by a keen Christchurch buyer.

Spread across two levels, the top floor has stunning views of the central city, a quirky feature window in the kitchen, and a quaint log-burner in the lounge.

Outside, you’ll find a seriously sloped 3915 m² (yes, you read that right) garden.

7. Pleasant views on Mount Pleasant

From the outside, this house looks pretty modest, but the inside tells a different story.

Not only has this house been tastefully renovated, whilst keeping true to its 1960’s roots, the views across the Heathcote Valley river are seriously epic. It's spacious, quirky and a true gem tucked away on Mount Pleasant.

It’s no wonder it had almost 7500 views in 2 weeks. For those who haven't seen it, it's still up for grabs.

6. Small space, big views

Having been recently renovated, the open-plan nature of the house makes its 70m² feel spacious and light. Its reasonable price tag in a piping hot Wellington property market makes it an enticing buy for anyone wanting stellar views and a quirky build.

This house has had 8500 views and 300 watch lists in the first 2 days – kiwis clearly love a good view.

5. Family-friendly living in Cashmere

This house ticks all family-friendly boxes: spacious, 675m² of land, and ideally located near schools and amenities.

This property is quintessentially kiwi and has unsurprisingly attracted 8600 views in a matter of weeks. You can view it here.

4. Character cottage in Brooklyn

This charming cottage built in the early 1900s has had 8500 views despite only having been listed on the 29th of June.

Centrally located, with a reasonable price tag; character lovers will rejoice.

3.'s gone

This central Christchurch property got a lot of interest in a very short space of time. Over 10,000 people viewed it, and almost 400 watchlisted it on its first day on Trade Me.

Christchurch is the home of value for money; as NZ house prices continue to rise, you can still snag yourself a generously sized home with a heck of a lot of land (by Auckland standards), for a fraction of the price. If you get in quick...

2. On a grand scale

Excessively large, with a price tag that will make your eyes bleed – this 1500m² beauty in Remuera is one for the ages. With tasteful interior design and landscaping, every aspect of the property has been thoughtfully planned to maximise light, space, and luxuriousness.

Hosting a pool, spa, tennis court, indoor gym, sauna, and giant human-sized chess-board – this property has an RV of 5.5 million.

The property has had over 10,000 views and is still up for sale.

1. Awe-inspiring beachfront mansion

Coming in first as our most popular property in June is this lavish waterfront mansion in Mount Maunganui. With over 30,000 views in under two weeks, this property has caught the eye of kiwis across the country.

This property has an indoor gym, infinity pool, and most notably a hand-carved underground Hinuera-stone wine cellar… Most of us can only dream of owning something so outrageous.
