Texting error this morning

We've just had a technical glitch that has caused some members who have used our texting service to receive repeats of outbid messages we sent earlier. These have been sent in error and should be ignored.

We've fixed the problem and will refund the cost of these texts to the Trade Me accounts of the people affected. We apologise sincerely for any confusion caused.

Text Alerts and Bidding

You can now receive alerts and place bids from your mobile phone, so you never have to miss out on an auction again.

Once you register your phone you can choose to receive alerts when saving an auction to your watchlist or placing a bid. Learn more.

Texts cost 20 cents and are billed to your mobile.

Scheduled maintenance tomorrow morning

Trade Me may be unavailable for periods between 5:00 am to 6:30 am on Thursday the 24th of August for scheduled maintenance.

All auctions closing during this time will be extended by 90 minutes. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

About this morning's outage

This morning we experienced a complete site outage for 45 minutes .

Our normal practice is to extend affected auctions to ensure sellers can realise their best price and buyers get the opportunity to place their best bid. We originally announced that we intended to extend auctions, as per our normal practice.

Due to a related technical issue, we were not able to successfully extend auctions after this morning's outage. We are looking into how to better ensure auctions are reliably extended in the event of a site outage.  More...

Update your listings to the new shipping format

From Thursday 17 August we will require all listings to use our new shipping format. Listings still using the old format will not be able to be relisted using Quick Relist or the sell multiple identical items feature.

Use the bulk update tool to change your current listings to the new shipping format. This tool is available on your Items I’m Selling page and updates all current listings without bids.
