Pea straw and pea seed in the Wairarapa region

From today we’re preventing the sale of pea straw or pea seed that originated from anywhere in the Wairarapa region, including south of Pahiatua.

This change is to help eradicate and prevent the spread of the pea weevil in the controlled area MPI has set up in the Wairarapa region. It’s expected this ban will last for two years.

Have a look at this guest blog post by the Ministry for Primary Industries for more info.

Treated timber as firewood on Trade Me

From 16 August, you won’t be able to list treated timber as firewood on Trade Me. We’re making this change off the back of the Ministry for the Environment’s push for better air quality.

Please note, any listings for treated timber as firewood will be removed from 16 August.

Treated timber that’s being used for other purposes can still be listed in the appropriate categories.

For the details of these changes, please see our updated Banned & restricted items list.
