A fresh, new Trade Me homepage!
Earlier this year we decided it was time to redesign the Trade Me homepage. Very few visitors interacted with anything outside of the main search and navigation areas, and we felt that the design was a bit tired.
After testing various designs with some members of our community, today we’re chuffed to release our new design to everyone.

A new addition: Trade Me Insurance
Today we launched Trade Me Insurance. It's all about providing Kiwis with peace of mind around their home, contents and car insurance, but without the painful process. It’s a comprehensive online insurance offer where people can get a quote, buy insurance, make a claim and manage their policy.
We're excited about what it means for people keen to buy insurance online in a way that's good value, easy and fast. Plus we'll be rolling out enhancements in the coming months that we reckon will make insurance easier than ever. More...
New Jobs listing page design
We’re always looking for ways to make the job hunting experience better. Right now we’re refreshing the design of the Jobs listing page and over the next couple of days we will release the new design to 50% of our members who are chosen at random. Over the coming weeks we’ll be tweaking the design based on the feedback we receive.
What’s changed?
There aren’t any functional changes with the new design so if you have a job listed, you don’t need to make any changes to your listing.
We’ve refreshed the design to ensure the important information is visible in the right places where we think users need it. More...
Changes to Cat and Dog categories
We recently released our new Code of Animal Welfare to promote greater animal welfare for cats or dogs that are listed with us. We’ve been making a number of changes progressively to these categories to help sellers comply with the code. The next round of changes will be released at the end of August.
What's changing?
Cats and dogs sellers listing a litter will have to select either a single animal or a litter when they create the listing. They’ll also need to specify how many animals are in the litter (a maximum of eight is allowed), along with some other information like the animals’ DOB. To comply with the code dog sellers will need to enter the mother's microchip number if they're selling puppies less than 90 days old. This field isn't compulsory for dogs over 90 days, and is not available for cats.
These changes are all working towards promoting a higher standard of welfare for cats and dogs that are sold or rehomed on Trade Me. More...
Redesigning the listing page
We’re excited to announce we've rolled out the new listing page to all members browsing in the Monitors, iPhone and Clothing & Fashion categories – previously this was only visible by people with even member numbers.
Eventually we’ll be showing the new design in all General Items categories, but the next step is showing the new page to 5% of members across all General Items categories. If you’re part of the 5%, you could be seeing the new design from as early as today.
