Be a part of New Zealand history
We're creating a 100 year time capsule that will be buried under our Wellington office in early 2013 and will be dug up in 2113. If you want to be part of history and have something buried with the time capsule, this is what you need to do:
1. Grab a postcard
2. Write a special message to New Zealanders who will read it in 100 years
3. Post it to us at: Trade Me Time Capsule, PO Box 11042, Wellington 6011
We will try to include every postcard we receive before 31 December 2012 in the time capsule. Space is limited, so first in first served!
Credit Card Payment Issues [RESOLVED]
Update 12.05pm: These issues have now been resolved.
We’re currently experiencing some issues with credit card payments. Our payment providers are working hard to resolve these and we’ll let you know when everything is up and running again.
We apologise for the inconvenience.
Upcoming changes to Trade Me Jobs categories
On 10 December we will be refreshing our current category structure on Trade Me Jobs. Some new categories will be added and several of our existing categories will be renamed or removed.
While the changes will be relatively minor, they should help our job hunters find relevant jobs more quickly.
Any job listings that are live on site when the changes kick in, and are listed in renamed or removed categories, will automatically be moved over into the most closely related updated category. This will happen for all affected listings, including those listed by a third party provider. More...
Introducing Rummage
We’ve launched a cool, new visual searching and browsing tool for Trade Me called Rummage today. We built it in conjunction with a pair of smart entrepreneurs in California, using the images from Gallery listings.
It’s a free, fun, simple way to look at Trade Me listings in a visually interesting way, and it works really well on mobile and tablet devices.

Updating search on Trade Me
We've made some changes to the search function on Trade Me as we aim to enhance browsing and searching on the site.
When using the top search bar, you used to just see auto-suggest options. Now when searching you will see auto-suggest options and category suggestions, and you may also see your recent keyword searches.
Note that you must be logged into your Trade Me membership to see these recent searches, and you can enable, disable and clear your previous search terms at any time by clicking on the ‘Settings’ icon in the search box. You can also clear your recent search history by highlighting the search term and clicking the ‘X’ on the right-hand side. This is handy if you’re stealthily shopping for Christmas presents! More...
