A new way to browse: Art, Baby Gear, Crafts & more

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 9:52am, Thu 19 Feb 2015

We’ve just made a change to the way search results are displayed in the Antiques and Collectables, Art, Baby Gear, Crafts, Health & Beauty, Jewellery & Watches, and Pottery & Glass categories.

Starting today, when you’re in these categories you’ll see a new visual page layout when searching and browsing. The appearance of each listing depends on an improved range of promotional products available in the category:

• Basic: Small image in search results.
• Gallery: Medium image in search results (2x larger than Basic) and higher position in the category.
• Feature: Large image in search results (4x larger than Basic) and best position in the category.
• Feature Combo: Highlights listing and includes all benefits of Feature. More...

A tweak to our Privacy Policy

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 3:00pm, Thu 12 Feb 2015

We wanted to let you know that we've made two tweaks to our Privacy Policy. These changes will come into effect on 25 February.

First, we've updated our policy at 15.g in relation to ‘Other information we collect’ to keep pace with current practices in the advertising industry. When third parties supply us with information in line with their terms and conditions, we may use this information to serve you with more relevant advertising content. We may also collect publicly available information about you, such as for fraud prevention purposes.

We've also updated our policy at 17.d in relation to the information around internet statistics and analytics, to enable us to use a Google Analytics Display Advertiser feature called 'Demographics and Interest' reporting. This gives us more insight into users’ behaviour across the site, and allows us to serve you with more relevant content by collecting anonymous information from Google in aggregate form. You can opt out of the Google Analytics Display Advertiser feature hereMore...

Car parts wanted category is closing

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 10:00am, Tue 10 Feb 2015

The reason behind the category closure is an increase in attempted scam activity, coupled with a decrease in the number of listings.

We realise this will be an inconvenience to some regular visitors to the category, however the safety of our members is our top priority. If you are still keen to track down rare car parts, our advice is to set up a favourite search over in the Car parts & accessories category.  More...

Safer Internet Day 2015

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 8:34am, Tue 10 Feb 2015

This year, Trade Me is one of 15 organisations that work with children, young people, and everyday Kiwi internet users to get behind Safer Internet Day.

Safer Internet Day is celebrated worldwide to encourage the safe and positive use of the internet and digital technologies, especially among children and young people. Here at Trade Me, we agree and support the idea of shared responsibility for internet safety, and we work closely with agencies like Netsafe and the Police to make sure we’re doing our bit to keep our members safe.

Netsafe have heaps more information on Safer Internet Day, so head on over and get involved. For more on our take on Safer Internet Day, jump across to our Trust & Safety blog.
