News about Trade Me from Fairfax Media
We announced some big news for Trade Me back in August.
There are still lots of rules around what we can and can’t say, but we wanted to let you know Fairfax Media Limited, our parent company, has officially announced its plans for Trade Me today.
You can check out today’s release from Fairfax Media Limited here, and there is a microsite that has just gone live over at ipo.trademe.co.nz. More...
Tweaks to the Trade Me T&Cs
We’ve updated our Terms and conditions relating to how we hold funds in Trade Me members’ accounts, in particular to state that we hold funds on trust for members. The tweaks are in clauses 5.2(b), 5.2(g) and 5.2(h).
Treat Me launches mobile deal platform
Our group buying website Treat Me launched Treat Me Now yesterday, a new instant deal platform that will see people able to sign up to receive great deals from businesses in real-time.
Treat Me Now (www.treatme.co.nz/now/) is a new way for deals to be distributed in New Zealand.

Back to the future for Daily Deals
We hate delaying any new initiative, but sadly we won’t be kicking off the 1-day powered Daily Deals on 1 November as planned.
Delivering a strong consumer-centric mix for Daily Deals is critical and we’re not quite there yet. As a result we will continue with the existing form of Daily Deals, and hold fire on the relaunch until next year. Apologies for any inconvenience.
Meanwhile if you’ve got some quality products in good numbers that you can offer to our members at a great price we’d love to hear from you. Just flick us a note through the Daily Deals contact page.
Update: Terms & conditions
We’ve updated 5.2b of our Terms and conditions to read:
Payments to your Trade Me account of an amount less than $10 may incur a $2 handling fee payable to Trade Me unless the payments are made with a credit or debit card, in which case you may make a top-up of between $5 and $10, as may be required to return your balance to $0, without incurring a fee.
This update reflects changes we’ve made to payments into Trade Me accounts.
