Trade Me shares in trading halt

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 9:25am, Mon 17 Dec 2012

You might have seen over on our investor website that shares in Trade Me Group Limited are in a trading halt this morning. Fairfax Media Limited has advised that it has entered into an agreement with an investment bank for the sale of its 51 per cent stake in Trade Me, and that a “book build” process is continuing. Trade Me shares will remain in trading halt until this book build is completed. On completion of the sale, Fairfax will no longer be a shareholder of Trade Me.

Holiday Homes set to join Trade Me

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 8:23am, Thu 13 Dec 2012

We wanted to let you know Trade Me has entered into an agreement to purchase Richmond-based accommodation website Holiday Homes, an online directory of holiday homes, baches, and cribs around New Zealand and the South Pacific.

We reckon it will complement our existing travel businesses Travelbug, BookIt and Holiday Houses nicely, and we’d like to welcome all the customers and staff of Holiday Homes to Trade Me.

Trade Me Jobs category changes

Written by The Jobs team in General and Jobs at 2:51pm, Mon 10 Dec 2012

We’re always looking for ways to improve how listings are categorised on Trade Me. Today we have made some changes to the category structure on Trade Me Jobs in order to help job hunters find relevant jobs more quickly. Some new categories have been added and some of our existing categories have been renamed or removed.

Any job listings on the site in categories that were renamed or removed have been automatically moved over into the most closely related updated category.

If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with us.

The Great New Zealand Santa Run

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 3:39pm, Thu 6 Dec 2012

Around 100 Trade Me staffers dressed up in santa suits for the Great New Zealand Santa Run in Wellington yesterday. Despite the blustery winds and horizontal rain, the team did a top job bolting around the waterfront in an effort to raise awareness for the KidsCan charity. We’re also helping out by donating $1 to KidsCan for every new toy bought on Trade Me on Sunday 9 December (anticipated to be our busiest shopping day of the year).

Be a part of New Zealand history

Written by The Trade Me team in General at 9:15am, Mon 3 Dec 2012

We're creating a 100 year time capsule that will be buried under our Wellington office in early 2013 and will be dug up in 2113. If you want to be part of history and have something buried with the time capsule, this is what you need to do:

1. Grab a postcard
2. Write a special message to New Zealanders who will read it in 100 years
3. Post it to us at: Trade Me Time Capsule, PO Box 11042, Wellington 6011

We will try to include every postcard we receive before 31 December 2012 in the time capsule. Space is limited, so first in first served!
